Frequently Asked Questions
Get quick answers to common questions regarding our managed plating capabilities and inspection protocols.
Do I need to strip old plating or grind my part before sending it to ShincoFab?
I have a machined part that was cut undersize. Can your services save it?
Yes. Whether you need to fix a machining error or repair scored hydraulic rods, we routinely restore parts with chrome plating. We can manage the deposit of up to 0.040” of hard chrome and superfinish the part back to your exact OEM blueprint tolerances, saving you the cost of scrapping an expensive component.
Can you ensure selective plating on specific areas without getting chrome on the threads?
Absolutely. We mandate that our plating partners use advanced custom masking techniques (high-temp tapes, custom waxes, and molded plugs) to isolate critical areas. You will get chrome exactly where the print calls for it, and nowhere else.
Do you provide Certifications of Compliance (C of C) and inspection reports with the finished parts?
Yes. We only utilize audited, ISO-certified plating facilities. Every completed job is shipped with full documentation provided by our partners and verified by ShincoFab, including Material Certifications, C of C, and First Article Inspection (FAI) reports.
We are facing a line-down emergency. How fast can you turn around a critical repair?
For critical equipment failures and line-down emergencies, we offer an expedited 48 to 72-hour turnaround through our priority network lines. This rapid processing depends on part dimensions and base metal condition. Call our engineering hotline immediately to bypass the standard queue.
